Pregnancy Comfort

Gentle Bodywork for a More Comfortable Pregnancy

Available from approximately 30 weeks of pregnancy.

Pregnancy is a time of extraordinary change. As your body grows and adapts, you may experience tension, discomfort or changes in movement that affect your everyday wellbeing.

Pregnancy Comfort uses gentle, pregnancy-focused bodywork to explore areas of tension around the pelvis, abdomen, muscles, fascia and ligaments.

Sometimes physical tension is only part of the picture. By incorporating gentle touch, guided breathing and nervous system awareness, we create space for your body to relax and soften.

Each session is guided by your individual needs, supporting greater body awareness, comfort and ease throughout your pregnancy.

Pregnancy Comfort may be suitable if you’re experiencing:

  • Pelvic girdle, pubic bone or sciatic discomfort

  • Persistent tightness or tension during pregnancy

  • Discomfort that hasn’t responded to stretching or self-massage

  • Sensitivity, numbness or tightness around existing scars

  • Uneven or one-sided tension patterns

  • A desire to deepen your mind-body connection

  • Curiosity about how your body is adapting to your baby’s changing position

G.Lorri Labourwork Method:

Aligned Birth Prep

Feel More Connected as You Prepare for Birth.

Available from 37 weeks of pregnancy.

Preparing for birth is about more than getting your hospital bag ready. It's also an opportunity to connect with your body, your baby and the remarkable changes taking place within you.

Aligned Birth Prep combines specialised gentle bodywork with an awareness of your baby’s position, pelvic mobility and the way your body holds tension.

Through gentle touch, abdominal palpation and body awareness, we explore opportunities to encourage relaxation and support your body's natural movement as birth approaches.

The intention is to help you feel more connected, informed and supported as you prepare to welcome your baby.

Aligned Birth Prep may be of interest if you:

  • Have experienced a prolonged or stalled labour previously

  • Have experienced an instrumental birth

  • Are planning a vaginal birth after caesarean (VBAC)

  • Are planning a homebirth

  • Have questions about your baby’s position, including posterior or oblique positioning

  • Have been told your baby’s head remains high

  • Know your waters have broken but labour isn’t starting

  • Know that you’re going through extended period of on/ off early labour without active labour starting

  • Are planning an induction and would like complementary bodywork as part of your preparation

Every birth unfolds differently. Aligned Birth Prep supports relaxation and awareness but cannot guarantee your baby’s position or a particular birth outcome.

What Happens During a Session?

Your approximately 90min session is centred on feel and relaxation.

We begin with a conversation about your personal history, concerns and intentions. I explain relevant anatomical landmarks I will palpate (feel with my hands) for tension incl. Baby’s position, clues I pick up from your body and the external release techniques to help the body to find relaxation and ensure you understand what to expect.

With your informed consent, the session may include gentle external fascia and muscle release through directed touch to areas of tension, breathing techniques and nervous system awareness.

You are always in control. We can pause, adjust or stop at any time.

At the end of the session we will compare our findings to the ones at the start of the session and I’m sure you’ll be surprised how different you and Baby’s position feel now.

You’ll also receive guidance on exercises you can continue at home by yourself or with your partner to help create lasting change.

Internal Pelvic Release Work (IPRW)

Reconnect With Your Pelvic Body

Available anytime before, during and after pregnancy

Your pelvis is an intricate and important part of your body, shaped by your physical experiences, movement, pregnancy, birth and everyday life.

Internal Pelvic Release Work (IPRW) is gentle, consent-led bodywork that explores tension held within the soft tissues of the pelvis, including the muscles, fascia and ligaments supporting the pelvic organs and bones.

Through tender touch, directed breathing and body awareness, IPRW aims to encourage these tissues to soften, supporting a greater sense of space, comfort and freedom of movement.

It also offers an opportunity to better understand your pelvic anatomy and learn gentle self-care techniques.

IPRW may be of interest to women who are:

  • Preparing for birth or recovering postpartum

  • Experiencing pelvic floor tension or dysfunction

  • Living with pelvic organ prolapse

  • Experiencing discomfort associated with perineal or caesarean scars

  • Finding tampon or menstrual cup use uncomfortable

  • Experiencing vaginismus, vulvodynia or painful intercourse

  • Living with endometriosis or adenomyosis

  • Exploring the effects of stress or trauma on their relationship with their pelvic body

  • Wanting to develop a deeper understanding of their pelvic anatomy

What Happens During a Session?

Your approximately two-hour session is centred on education, communication, consent and relaxation.

We begin with a conversation about your personal history, concerns and intentions. I explain relevant pelvic anatomy, discuss boundaries and ensure you understand what to expect.

With your informed consent, the session may include gentle internal exploration through the back wall of the vagina, directed touch to areas of tension, breathing techniques and body awareness.

You are always in control. We can pause, adjust or stop at any time.

You’ll also receive guidance on gentle self-care techniques you can explore at home.

I am grateful to have learned this work from Fiona Hallinan, whose compassionate philosophy of women caring for women continues to guide my practice.

Session duration: Approximately 2 hours.

Scar Release

Gentle Care for Caesarean & Abdominal Scars

Available from 12 weeks after surgery, once healing is appropriate.

A scar is more than a mark on your skin.

Surgery can affect the deeper layers of tissue and fascia, sometimes leaving areas feeling tight, sensitive, numb or restricted long after the skin has healed.

Scar Release is a gentle, nurturing bodywork session focused on the scar and surrounding tissues.

Through slow, respectful touch, we explore ways to encourage softness, comfort and freedom of movement, while helping you reconnect with an area of your body that may feel different after surgery.

This service may be particularly supportive for women with caesarean scars, as well as those recovering from other abdominal or laparoscopic procedures.

Whether your scar feels tender, tight, numb or simply deserves some gentle attention, this is a space to reconnect with your body at your own pace.
